Original Works has been partnering with schools nationwide since 1989, helping them create and run successful, art-based fundraising programs! With our high-quality products, exceptional customer service, and attention to detail, we support dedicated art teachers and fundraising coordinators—like Amy Carr—in reaching their school fundraising goals.
We’re excited to introduce you to Amy Carr in this Meet the Fundraising Coordinator feature! Here are a few fun facts about her:
What is your role at the school / organization and how long have you been involved in fundraising?
I serve on the board for Helena Public Montessori Parents (HPMP) and am the Original Works Coordinator. This is my third year in the role.
What inspired you to take on the role of fundraising program coordinator?
We loved this fundraiser when my kids were younger and attending a private Montessori school. When I was looking to get involved with HPMP, the Original Works coordinator position was available, and it felt like the perfect fit for me.
What’s your favorite part about organizing fundraisers?
I love the relationships I’ve built with teachers and families over the years who participate in our annual fundraiser. I also really enjoy seeing all the wonderful artwork the kids create while I’m processing the orders.
Experience with Original Works
How did you first hear about Original Works?
At Mountainside Montessori in Helena, MT. They held an Original Works fundraiser every year while our kids were attending school, and we absolutely loved it.
Why did you choose our program for your school?
The program was already in place before I joined, but I was very excited to learn that our organization offered it at our school.
What do you love most about working with Original Works?
Original Works is a great company to work with, they are very supportive and provide excellent tools for success. I believe it’s a wonderful fundraising opportunity that truly focuses on the kids and their art, while also creating meaningful keepsakes for families. I have a coffee mug for every year our three kids have participated, and our oldest is now a sophomore in high school. Needless to say, we have a lot of custom art mugs!
How as the fundraising process been for you? Any standout moments?
It has honestly always been a great experience. The relationships that grow over time with families and teachers are the best part. We offer the program to three schools in our district with Montessori programs and include non-Montessori classrooms as well, so everyone has the opportunity to participate.

Fundraiser Success & Impact
How did your school use the funds raised through Original Works?
Funds raised by Montessori classrooms are earmarked for each Montessori teacher to use for supplies or classroom support. Funds from non-Montessori classrooms go to their school’s PTO to support school activities and classrooms.
What feedback did you get from parents, students, and teachers?
The feedback is always positive. Teachers and families who participate truly love the program.
Do you have a favorite success story from a past fundraiser?
I love seeing how much the program has grown over the last couple of years. I am honestly blown away by the growth.
What would you say to other schools considering an art-based fundraiser?
Get to know your community, relationships go a long way. I think it’s important to have the same person run the fundraiser for multiple years to help maintain those relationships. Create a tracking sheet to compare year-over-year results and have clear instructions to pass along to the next coordinator. Let your community know who the person will be that is taking your place, so they are set up for success.
